untitled (oil on canvas, 2005) – private collection

I’ve long been interested in subtleties of texture and color – in the blurry lines shifting between ideas of what forms an image.

The process of painting can be very therapeutic at times. The repetition of a brushstroke layering over itself, working its way into a dense fog and then back out again. Streaks of tint and shade appear as if they once were something lucid… or soon might be. Transitive.

Like the hazy place waiting beyond consciousness. Somewhere between “sleep” and “dream.”

Welcome to http://TayArlE.wordpress.com!

I’ve created this space to share my thoughts, musings and creative works with an indefinite audience.  I enjoy dabbling in writing and painting, as well as a variety of  other artistic media. Whether that defines me as an “artist” is up to interpretation.

Personally, I see art as something without boundaries that is often limited by the need we have to make sense of  our surroundings.  Art challenges the brain’s capacity for deciphering the stimuli of everyday life.  Art relies on our senses to provoke an emotional response.  Art is no stranger to debate or criticism, but never ceases to engage a reaction. Our artistic understandings are sculpted by the shared bonds of what it is to be distinctly human…

Now that we have that out of the way, it is my sincere hope that this blog will serve as an avenue for furthering my own self-expression, as well as a medium for connecting to others on a deeper level.

Thank you for stopping by.
